Over Easter weekend, My parents came and we worked on the house. When they left, while we had a great time, in some ways it didn’t feel like we got much done. So I made a list of all the things we accomplished, and really we did more than I thought. Yes, in some ways they are just tidbits. But those tidbits are important and are preparing this house for us to move in. So here is the list:
Painted 4 doors and some trim
Moved a old wardrobe and Dad fixed the door that was broken
Scott and Dad fixed the mower
Cleaned up the brush and limbs from the tree that is in the process of being cut down
tidbits in the girls bathroom: lights, knobs, counter trim, and cabinets cleaned out
Guest bath mirror hung
filing cabinets painted
general straightening and cleaning
bought sub-flooring for the kitchen and dining room
put together K’s reading corner
And because it can’t be all work and no play:
We celebrated Scott’s birthday
and went clothes shopping for the girls, especially for that growing “almost” teenager (who is very excited about being 13, since she started telling people that she is almost 13 in January but her birthday is not until August.)
So all in all not too shabby for a relaxed weekend of work and play.
And here a a couple of pics to share with you.
First is K’s reading corner. Didn’t it come out cute? Granny and Papa did such a good job.

And here is the bathroom mirror. When we bought the house, someone had taken all the bathroom mirrors, so strange. Mom got this one for free in Lubbock when she was working on another bathroom project. Originally it was from a dresser. Scott removed some bulky hardware off the back. Dad cleaned up the wood and oiled it and then hung it for us. I think it just looks so nice.
YAY! Things are coming along!
